3ds max Polygon Modeling Constraining sub-object transforms We are actually constraining the edge to the edges running perpendicular to it. We can do the same here, double click, and move those around and restructure the typology however we need. That’s very, very helpful. We could do the same in vertex sub-object mode if we wanted. We could also constrain to faces if we wanted. Alright so I just want to remember to turn the constraints back off when I’m finished. So I’ll constrain to none and then exit out of edge sub-object mode. To finish this part here, I do want to combine all the pieces so I need to attach them and you’ll know if you try to attach an instance you won’t be allowed to.

3ds max Polygon Modeling Constraining sub-object transforms  Let’s try it. So I’ve got one of the editable polys selected and I’ve got the attach button here and when I try to attach one of these other objects I’m not allowed to do that. So to turn attach off, and then select each one of these objects and make it unique and that breaks the instancing connection. So click make unique right underneath the modifier list and make unique and you’ll need to do that on all these, all four, breaking the connection to the instance. Then select the original object, chair base leg and attach and now we can attach all of those.3ds max Polygon Modeling Constraining sub-object transforms
